4 Great Fish for Saltwater Aquariums

Watchman Goby

Popular!

The Watchman Goby is perfect for beginners. The most popular ones are yellow-green in color. Although they may bully other members of the same species, they can live in a harmony with all other species. Their diet is entirely based on shrimp, so food is simple and cheap.

Coral Beauties

Love big tanks!

Despite the name, Coral Beauties are not coral-related fish. They are native to rock-based water areas. The "Beauties" part of their name holds up, though. They are beautiful, and they like their space. The smallest aquarium you should even consider for Coral Beauties is 70 gallons, but 100 or 125 gallons are even better.

Butterfly Fish

More than 100 sub-species!

Butterfly Fish live in oceans across the planet. As such, there are more than 100 sub-species. This is both a benefit and a reason for caution. There's probably a sub-species that's right for your aquarium, but it's best to be doubly sure with research so you don't buy the wrong one by mistakes. Some of the most common Butterfly Fish are covered with stripes and dots.

Tangs

A 100-gallon tank is a must!

Tangs are aggressive towards members of their own species, but they can live together with other species. The best part about them are the colors, which come in a rainbow of variations. The tank must be at least 100 gallons, although a larger one will be a better choice.
