3 Fantastic Fish for Cold-Water Aquariums

These three fish species sit at the rare intersection of ease and looks. Try one for your cold-water aquarium.

Goldfish

The range of colors, the long tails, and the look of goldfish are stunning. They prefer water temperature between 62 and 74 degrees Fahrenheit. They are also messy when they feed, so replace water regularly (10% each week).

The behavior of these fish is friendly. It isn’t a coincidence that they are the most adorable and the most common kind of fish found in homes today. Just be sure to add dechlorinator to the tank.

White Cloud

White Cloud is an extremely resistant fish. It can be placed in a pond during the summer and it will survive. For aquariums, they can withstand low temperatures to 60 degrees Fahrenheit. They prefer medium and upper levels in a tank. A must know fact is that they must live in a group. Between 6 and 10 is just right. In that case, they can live up to 5 years.

When it comes to looks, White Cloud isn’t the most beautiful fish on the planet, but it is strong, fun to look at and it can survive almost anything. Taller tanks are the best option for this fish. Top tip: Keeping just one isn’t an option!

Bloodfin Tetras

Bloodfin Tetras are perfect for all kinds of tanks, especially large ones. We say larger because this fish is always on the move. The temperatures it can withstand are between 64 and 82 degrees Fahrenheit.

Bloodfin Tetras are social fish, so they require company all the time. In the proper environment, with a group of 10 or more, they can live up to 10 years. On the other hand, if you have just one, it will be shy and lonely!
